War surtax proposal

As I was sufing the web today I came up this interesting article about increasing taxes to pay for the Iraq war. Here is the link to the article if you would like to read it.
http://www.cnn.com/2007/POLITICS/10/02/democrats.war.tax/index.html
Basically what they are proposing is to increase taxes by 2% for low and middle income families and raise taxes by 12-15% for higher income families. Ok, I don’t like taxes, in fact I can’t stand them along with most people. I think they drag our economy down by taking money that would have been spent by the American consumer and give it to a wasteful government that has the worst fiscal responsibility I have ever read about, seen, or been witness to.  They just can’t seem to get enough of our money. I already work 4 months out of the year for them, how much more do they want?
What makes me even more irritated about this, besides just the taxes, is that this proposal is from the Democratic party. Aren’t they supposed to be against the war and trying to bring the troops back? I don’t understand this logic! Let show our distain for the war by finding a great way to fund it, I like that idea. I know they are just trying to make a political statement, but seriously, it’s things like this that just make me want to bang my head on my desk. What political think tank, or group of politicians can possibly come up with ideas this bad!

I’m not sure if there is going to be a lot of reminiscing on this blog or not but it sure feels like it. I’m not that old, in fact i’m not really old at all but I keep thinking back to all the things I used and played with growing up and am wondering what of those, if anything, was made in the US.Â
I suppose the only reason i’m bringing this up is because a customer called today asking about soccer balls made in the US. I played a lot of soccer growing up, it was pretty much my sport. I played all over the US, even in Europe and I didn’t reallize that all the soccer balls I know of are made in Pakistan. I looked all over the place today to try and find a soccer ball made in the US and couldn’t find one, not one. I know there has to be some company somewhere that is making them and if that company happens to read this blog please email me so I can add your products to my site.

After talking with the mayor of Irvine, CA, Mayor Beth Krom, my girlfriend has become increasingly more politcally motivated. The mayor was asking Brianna why she thinks the younger generation is not as involved in politics on either side of the political arena. It’s an interesting question really and it does seem to be true. The younger generation seems pretty sedated when it comes to the issues of the day. There is no real anti-war movement, no demonstrations agains this bill or that bill…. just quiet sedation. Pretty interesting really… I mean I’m the first to admit that I’m not very politically active, I just can’t seem to decide on who I like: I’m like a deer caught in the headlights, just freeze up and don’t do anything.
This got Brianna pretty motivated however, and much more active. She is now trying to organize political meetings with the young democrats in order to stimulate discussion on a variety of issues. I myself am not a Democrat, not that I have anything against them but I consider myself to be pretty independent, I just can’t see myself alligning with any one political party. As she continues to become more interested in politics, we have been thinking on the idea of how to get more information to the public and how to get people more politically active. The main thing is that we have noticed a lack of non-biased information out there about candidates and their histories. There are a ton of pro or con websites on each candidate but not much for a conglomerated non biased political website, so we are thinking about how we could do that or if there would be any interest in that type of site. My question to everyone is where do you go to get your political information? Besides the candidates websites, which are obviously a little biased, where do you find the best information to make decisions? Feel free to comment here or go to the forum and start up a new thread on this because I would love to hear what everyone has to say.

After a week of work, it is really nice to be able to look forward to a nice two day weekend! I remember when I was younger the weeks seemed to take forever and the weekends went by so fast. Now, the weeks and the weekends go by in a blur! In addition to this site I work in the mortgage industry and let me tell you about the last working day of the month…haha… wow! Needless to say i’m looking forward to having a nice margarita, or two, and enjoying the comfort of my couch as I watch a few movies. I might even take a break to go swimming at some point but I doubt it…. anyways, hope everyone has a great weekend!
